THE AVENUE’S QUIET HOUR
Shh! It’s oh so quite at The Avenue!
The Avenue introduced a Quiet Hour every morning from 9am till 10am in November 2016.
Working with East Renfrewshire Disability Action to make visiting The Avenue easier for people with sensory issues and conditions such as autism, the shopping centre has switched off its mall music for this full hour every day.
Over 80% of Avenue retailers have agreed to join and switch off their in-store music for this hour.
Centre Manager Michelle McCabe said: “Our tie-up with East Renfrewshire Disability Action is just the latest example of our ongoing commitment to community involvement. The Avenue prides itself in playing an active role in the local community by providing it with an alternative to city centre shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience.
“We consider our retail offering as providing a real community benefit, and are committed fully to ongoing community engagement. As our fire alarm testing takes place every Thursday until 9.15am, our Quiet Hour shoppers may wish to avoid visiting until after this time.”
